This Street Food series was inspired by the Taho vendor in the artist’s neighborhood. Kora Dandan Albano finished the Taho piece in early March, 2020. Then Covid19 happened. During the first few days of the lockdown, Kora noticed that their taho suki who calls “Tahooo! Tahooo!” every morning suddenly stopped coming. Then it hit her that Manong Magtataho and all the other street food vendors in the city must have lost their livelihood because of the lockdown. So she decided to paint two more pieces, the Banana Cue and the Sorbetes, to raise funds for a local group that distributes foodpacks to indigent families in Baguio. Two years later, Kora Dandan Albano painted the Samalamig to complete the series for Casa Juan’s coaster collection.
